Colorado River – Lees Ferry
Situated along the Colorado River, Lees Ferry is a great drop point to fish the Colorado River for Rainbow and Brown Trout. Drop a small boat with a good motor and work up and down the river. Don’t pass up fly fishing from the banks. There are a couple of motels in the area and they each have a restaurant. Luxuries are not, but the fishing and scenery are remembered forever. Head the other way downstream to enjoy some awesome rapids and multi day trips down the canyon.
Directions from Phoenix Take I-17 North to Flagstaff. Stay to the right and take I-40 East to the Page-Grand Canyon exit. This will put you on north Hwy 89. Continue about 110 miles, then take a left on highway 89A towards the north rim of the grand canyon. Stay on 89A for 15 miles. The beginning is marked by a bridge which crosses the mighty Colorado River. Starting with Marble Canyon Lodge. Cliff Dwellers is another 9 miles further. There are plenty of guides for the area that are great at what they do and have been on this river for most of their lifetime.
